The Practical Guide for Female Surfers – Dare to Catch the Wave!
I am a surf instructor, lifelong surfer, and founder of Losurfcoaching. Over the years, I've seen how much women lack a space for expression in the surfing world: a place where we feel heard, encouraged, and understood. This is what inspired me to write The Practical Guide for Female Surfers – Dare to Catch the Wave!
A Guide Written for Us
This book is a blend of my personal experience, my years spent in the water between Tahiti and Brittany, and everything I've learned while coaching women in their progression. I cover the essential steps to dare to start, gain confidence, and feel legitimate on a board.
A Structure Designed for Gentle Guidance
The guide is structured around three main axes:
- Preparation: better understanding the ocean, choosing your equipment, effective warm-up, mental conditioning.
- Building Confidence: overcoming fears, learning to read conditions, adopting proper safety reflexes.
- Women's Surfing: an essential section where I discuss without taboos the reality of women in surfing — menstruation, pregnancy, physical specificities, as well as mental load and place in the water.
A Sensitively Illustrated Work
This project is also a collective adventure: Annabel Talouarn's beautiful watercolors and Mégane Murgia's vibrant photos make the book alive, accessible, and deeply human. I also wanted to include testimonials from female surfers – beginners or experienced – to show that while each journey is unique, we often share the same blocks and the same impulses.
